The Buying team develop our product ranges, blending creativity and commercial judgement to create best-selling products our customers can’t resist! The team also work with our Sourcing team in Hong Kong to collaborate on the design and production of products, approving samples and ensuring the best possible quality.
Buying calls for a real understanding of our customer and the ability to bring genuine newness to the range whilst staying true to the Brand’s heritage and handwriting. Most of the team specialise in an area such as fashion, home, bags & accessories or kids products and develop an in depth knowledge of their category. Buying work hand in hand with Merchandising to add more of a commercial dimension to their thinking and collaborate together.
The Cath Kidston buying team works very closely with the Print Design team and handles a particularly wide range of different products. As our business grows, we are developing products for our global customers in more and more countries which is making the buying role ever more challenging and exciting.
Becoming a successful buyer will probably start with a keen interest in our products and our brand – you’ll be a shopaholic at heart! You’ll need to be full of new ideas and willing to take commercial risks based on a great understanding of trends, innovations and our brand. Having an eye for what will sell and what our customer really wants – even before they know it – is the key to our Buying team's success.
