Why did you join Cath Kidston?

Retail has always been my passion and I particularly enjoy working with British heritage brands that I find inspirational. When the role at Cath Kidston came along, I didn’t hesitate to apply. I also knew that I was joining at a really exciting time, particularly with its expanding store portfolio both at home and internationally.

What do you get up to on a typical day?

A typical day often varies according to which point in the season we are in. One day I might be out and about meeting journalists and bloggers; other days I’ll be in the office working on developing new campaign plans. In the mornings I am normally responding to emails or having calls with our international partners, who due to the time difference are about to finish their working day, whilst mine has just started. Right now, we’re busy preparing for our AW16 press show. Our press shows are always a big, creative showcase that involves the whole team so currently there are lots of meetings with colleagues across different departments.

What do you love most about working here?

The energy within the company is quite infectious. There is a real sense of camaraderie and teamwork, which makes for a really collaborative working atmosphere. I also feel incredibly fortunate to be able to work with such talented people across different departments every single day.

What’s been your biggest achievement/proudest moment so far?

Helping to change the way that campaigns are constructed at Cath Kidston and being able to work so collaboratively with the team to help develop exciting, creative campaigns for the brand such as our Totes and Mother’s Day campaigns.

What is it really like to work here?

Whilst we work incredibly hard to achieve the best work we can, we instil a fun working environment. I’ve been with the company for over 2.5 years and I can genuinely say that I look forward to coming in to work each and every day. That comes down to both the interesting and varied work that we do as well as the people I’m able to work with.

What do you think makes Cath Kidston unique as an employer?

We really live by our brand values and that is something that filters through from a senior level. Our company’s brand platform is “Brighten Up Your Day” and that's something that we live by day-to-day as a company; from initiatives that come through via HR through to the monthly events that are organised by our social team. We also have Cath’s Café, which not only serves excellent subsidised meals every day but looks like a truly modern vintage space that never fails to brighten up our breakfast and lunch times!

What piece of advice would you give to someone who was thinking of applying to work for us?

Make sure that you you’re really prepared for your interview by researching the company as well as some of our most recent work. Also visit some of our stores and immerse yourself in the product and store environment. It helps to formulate a point of view that makes for a more interesting interview and will help you to stand out among other candidates.

What’s your favourite Cath Kidston print?

Cowboy print. I loved the original as well as the new re-coloured versions that the print team have been working on. The team are doing a fantastic job at constantly re-energising one of our most well-loved, classic prints.

What is your all-time favourite product of ours?

The Cloud print Leather Folio. Its super practical for keeping my important documents in but also looks really fun – its always a conversation starter when I take it to external meetings.
