Why did you join Cath Kidston?

I joined Cath Kidston by looking at our web page first. Looked into the prints and different products, I was attracted and intrigued to learn more about the brand.

What do you get up to on a typical day?

The airport environment is totally different to any high street or head office environment, it is very fast paced. When starting work you want to come in and find out what the figures are, are we on target, how much more do we need to achieve target (very target based). We manage deliveries five days a week, stock replenishment must be done in off peak hours. Apart from all the admin and operational sides of the business, I ensure customers receive the best Cath Kidston customer service possible.

What do you love most about working here?

The warm and friendly atmosphere that we learn to create in store. There is lots of motivation throughout the company, from management. Hard work is appreciated.

What’s been your biggest achievement/proudest moment so far?

My biggest achievement is my progress throughout the company. I started as a sales assistant in Terminal 5 less than two years ago, became senior sales after six months of employment. After two years of being with CK I got promoted to ASM. Proudest moment was when I got the opportunity to represent my Store Manager Aga, in the Singapore Special competition, we didn’t win but it was an amazing experience. It allowed me to present in front of our Commercial Director Sue Carvell and other regional managers.

What is it really like to work here?

Especially in the airport, a lot of customers do not know about Cath Kidston, you teach customers about CK. You need to be able to use your own initiative, you need to be efficient and proactive. It is definitely a fun and friendly place to work, it is target driven, but it keeps us focused and motivated.

What do you think makes Cath Kidston unique as an employer?

Hard work is appreciated; progression in the company is not an issue. We train to create warm and friendly approach in store for customers rather than a formal approach. Our prints and designs in themselves are unique.

What piece of advice would you give to someone who was thinking of applying to work for us?

Cath Kidston is a good and fair company to work for; you will feel like a proud member of the team. Your hard work pays off. You spend the majority of your day/week at work and it should be an enjoyable environment for you, which CK is.
